Polish Arts & Crafts Society
Towarzystwo Stuk Pieknych
The Society was formed in 1993 and is unincorporated.
It aims to promote Polish culture and heritage to Polish and Australian audiences employing either Polish artists visiting Australia or Australian artists of Polish ancestry. It explores themes, genres and styles in the performing arts emerging from being Polish-Australian and it experiments with theatre, recitals, exhibitions, craft to provide unusual forms of live theatre, etc.
Some highlights include:
- Chopin – a longing heart : a piano recital with letters
- Bouquets from Poland festival, 2002
- Series of recitals exploring the Polish composers Chopin, Moniuszko, Wieniawski
- Various exhibitions – Terra Nova-land of milk & honey (2000); Poles-A-Part (2004)
It has had a long association with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland where many of its recitals, etc. are held.
