Website: http://www.spkcanberra.org.au
The Association of Polish veterans from World War II was established in Canberra in 1953 with the dual purpose of helping their members and their families and to continue the fight for a free and democratic Poland which was achieved in 1989 with the fall of Communism.
From these beginnings the Canberra Sub-Branch has had a close relationship with its Australian veteran association the RSL; has constructed two premises; lobbied for veterans’ entitlements; participated in ANZAC Day marches; involved in fund raising for various Polish and Australian causes; celebrated Polish national and religious days and other anniversaries; represented the Association at major Polish and Australian events; organised lectures, concerts and exhibitions.
The Association is the most senior organisation in the Polish Canberra community.
The President is Dr. Frank Ziolkowski.
